where it
began
It all began with a trip to Taiwan, a bright-eyed 26-year-old exploring a new landscape in search for a business opportunity. One day on a walk, Ms Yeap came across a tea house with a long line of people queueing to enter. It turned out to be the flagship store of an already-successful homegrown tea company with retail stores across the country and abroad.
Persuaded by her ambition and honesty, she negotiated terms with the flagship store’s management and was eventually granted the opportunity to import their fine Chinese tea to Malaysia, starting small in supermarkets before expanding to her own shop. That marked the beginning of Ten Yee Tea, and the rest is history.
onto newer frontiers
Coming from a corporate background of sales and marketing, when Ashley first joined the family business, her approach largely revolved around establishing a new target market. It was about evolution with momentum. But a few years into the trade, she's found herself going back to the fundamentals of the business - a continuation of her parents' work of tirelessly devoting themselves to the core tenets of the business: delving into the quality, sourcing, and storage techniques of tea that have established Ten Yee Tea as a household name for decades.
a journey
through wellness
Mr. Lim's journey with tea began when he realised its immense health potential, particularly with the booming popularity of Pu’er tea. He learned about the beneficial effects of aged tea, its fermentation process, and how it aids digestion and overall wellness. Despite initial reservations, he delved into the world of tea, finding it more promising than his previous business venture.
Through conversations, interactions, and continuous learning, Mr. Lim developed a deep appreciation for tea's complexities and a philosophy that revolves around tea as both a supplement and a social conduit, fostering connections and wellbeing.
